Broccoli Sabji

Broccoli Sabji (vegetable)

Pointer 1: Sauté broccoli florets for better taste. Or, you may use lightly blanched florets.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound of broccoli florets
    • 2 cloves garlic crushed
    • 1" ginger piece crushed
    • 1/2 tsp. mustard^ seeds
    • 1/2 a medium-sized onion finely chopped (optional)
    • 1 tsp. cumin^ seeds
    • 2 Tbsps. canola or olive oil
    • 1 tsp. curry leaves
    • a pinch of asafoetida^
    • 2 Tbsp. grated coconut
    • 2 tssp. coriander powder^
    • 2 tsps. turmeric powder^
    • Salt to taste


    Method:

Sauté broccoli florets with a Tbsp. of oil until dry and lightly roasted. Add a little more oil if necessary. Set aside. Take a wok^, add 1 Tbsp. of oil. Splutter some mustard seeds. Add 2 dry red chillies and sauté until it turns dark in color. Add urad dhal and let it turn brown. Now add the cumin seeds. Add crushed ginger and garlic. Add chopped onions and saute until translucent. Now add the turmeric powder. Mix it in with the onions, asafoetida add coriander powder. Add the broccoli florets and mix everything thoroughly. Finally add the salt and the curry leaves. Spread the grated coconut,.give it a mix and serve.
